The last couple of months have been a living hell for most industries around the world. So, it is a no-brainier that COVID-19 would impact the logistics industry as well. Keeping the world-wide pandemic in mind, leading logistics Darwin are now assessing the nature and extent of the damage caused.
Here are some of the facts –
01 – The economic crises
The first thing that is going haywire is the recession that has hit the country even before the pandemic actually subsides. Such is the decline of the economic output, that the logistics industry (among others) are facing the grunt of that. From freight transportation to warehousing – the pandemic has incurred tons of losses in Darwin and other Australian cities.
02 – Growing unemployment
Low output has caused severe ‘drought’ in the logistics business and it is witnessing a sea of employment drive all around the nation. As the Government is urging people to lock themselves up a home, the service sector is taking the most beating. With half of the staff either laid off or fired, logistics industry is facing crisis like no other.
03 – E-commerce delivery channels
For the past 5-6 months, the delivery networks are struggling to keep up with the snail pace of the e-commerce avenues are recovering. With massive hit from global pandemic, the logistics Darwin is facing a bumpy ride in their supply chain. The question of sustainability is in the air with no silver lining whatsoever.
Hopefully, sooner or later, the cloud will disburse and the logistics industry will see a ray of hope again!
